Creators of LunchBoxCards Launch Children's

"Let's Write a Book" Website

Silver Spring, Maryland: Erika, Paul, Jennifer, and Samantha Jackson are pleased to announce the debut of www.AuthorsPrompt.com on August 1, 2009. AuthorsPrompt.com is a site that works with aspiring authors to develop their first book. The site is primarily aimed at 8-18 year olds, but is also a great tool for adults interested in writing their first children's book.

Erika Jackson, a retired elementary school teacher stated: "Over my years teaching, I've learned that the key to teaching is to stimulate a child's interest. That's the idea behind www.AuthorsPrompt.com."

Says Samantha Jackson, Erika's 13-year old grand-daughter: "this is a great way for kids to do something fun and be creatively challenged."

Jennifer, her twin sister added: "Kids should ask their parents to sign them up to write a book on AuthorsPrompt.com. It's fun, creative, and keeps your parents from giving you a hard time for laying around the house doing nothing - just tell them you're searching for creative writing inspiration.".

Howard Kohn, the author of three highly acclaimed books: The Last Farmer, runner-up for a Pulitzer; Who Killed Karen Silkwood?, which led to the Meryl Streep movie; and We Had a Dream, a non-fiction story that examines the afterlife of the civil rights movement in Prince George's County (MD) serves as Executive Sponsor of the website, providing ideas and direction. Howard was a staff writer at Rolling Stone Magazine, and is still an occasional contributor. His work has also been published in The New York Times Sunday Magazine, Esquire, Mother Jones and other periodicals. He served five years as bureau chief of the Center for Investigative Reporting. "This site is a truly innovative way to open up the world of creative writing for children and I'm glad to have the opportunity to support this site", says Howard.

Writing a book with AuthorsPrompt.com is easy. Through the website, the aspiring author sets up an initial phone consultation. Based on the consultation, AuthorsPrompt provides one or more suggested topic sentences and tips on how to proceed. The aspiring author composes what happens next and submits it to AuthorsPrompt, which provides edits and suggestions for how to proceed. After several iterations, the completed work is printed by a professional printer and the final product is delivered to the author. "These books make great keepsakes and presents and can really boost the confidence and writing skills of a child", says Erika Jackson. The author owns full publishing rights to the story and AuthorsPrompt.com will provide suggestions on the several sites that authors can post their completed works to be published on demand.

A story, at around 10,000 words or less, typically takes 2-3 weeks and is priced around $125 and includes one professionally printed copy of the book. For an additional cost, authors can incorporate their own or professional illustrations in their book

When your teacher asks, What did you do over the summer? Tell her, I wrote a book.

Parents, want to spark your children's creativity? Sign them up for www.AuthorsPrompt.com.
